Funeral Services for
Edward F. McDonald will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 11, 2009 at St. Patrick's
Catholic Church in Georgetown with Father Mike Volkmer, C.PP.S. and Pat Lumsdem
officiating. Burial will follow
immediately after in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Georgetown.
Visitation will be open to
the public at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 10, 2009 with the family receiving friends
from 6-8 PM Friday evening. A Christian
Wake Service will begin at 8:00 PM Friday evening. For those desiring, an open memorial has been
established in Edward's name. Condolences

Edward F. McDonald, age 92, was born on Jan 6,
1917 in Lovilia, Iowa to Frank and Verla (Mahin) McDonald. Ed moved to Melrose with his family at a
young age. He married Margaret Lynch on
November 23, 1948, and they had one son, William. Margaret passed away on December 15,
1988. He then later married Ruby Summers
on January 14, 1990, and she passed away in 1994.
He was a farmer in the Georgetown area.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albia. He truly enjoyed farming, and in his later
years he loved to go back to his farm where his son now lives. Ed also enjoyed spending time with his
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ed passed away July 8, 2009 at the Monroe Care Center in Albia. He was preceded
in death by his spouses, Margaret, and Ruby; one infant daughter, Mary Margaret;
siblings: Margaret, James, William, Joseph, and Evelyn.
He is survived by his son, William (Joan) McDonald of Georgetown;
grandchildren: Quenton (Sam) McDonald, Carrie McDonald, Lee (Heather Caudill) McDonald,
William (Eleanor) McDonald, Daniel McDonald, and Vanessa McDonald, all of
Albia. Also surviving are ten great
grandchildren, two brothers: John (Mary) McDonald of Albia, and Walter (Christine)
McDonald of Nevada, Iowa; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and
friends.
